“My Recent Trip to Grab Cave on Phu Pha Leg Mountain

“To see the source of Eye of Naga Amulets”

During Mar 22-26, 2008, I had a 5 days trip to Sam Roi Yod mountain in Prachupkhirikhan and Phu Pha Leg mountain in Sakonnakorn.  The purpose of this trip was to visit and see the source of the Relics stone which are found in many caves on Sam Roi Yod mountain and also visit and see the source of Eye of Naga amulets which were found in many caves on Phu Pha Leg mountain (please see another article about my trip to Sam Roi Yod which is now shared on ebay).

As I have been listing many Eye of Naga amulets on ebay for sometime which I bought them from a village guy who took the Eye of Naga amulets from a cave called “Glab” on the Phu Pa Leg Mountain, so I decided to go to the Glab Cave to see the source of the Eye of Naga amulets by myself.  Prior to the trip, I made an appointment with the village guy and his wife who live near to the Phu Pha Leg Mountain to be ready for taking me to the cave.  In late morning of Mar 24, I drove from Bangkok to Sakonnakorn which is about 600-700 km far from Bangkok and stayed one night in a resort near to Phu-Pha-Leg Mountain.  On Mar 25 in the morning, I reached the village guy’s home but the village guy had been on an urgent trip to up-country and had asked his wife and his two sons to take care me.  After some greeting with the village guy’s wife, the village guy’s sons (one is the elder guy and another is the younger guy) drove his motorcycle to the mountain following by me driving my car closely.  After around 10 minutes driving, they brought me to an open field near to the foot of the mountain and asked me to leave my car there.

All of us started walking up the mountain carrying some fruits that were prepared for the worship ritual.  Comparing to Sam Roi Yod Mountain, the walking path here was not so steep.  The destination was the Glab Cave where most of Eye of Naga stones were found there.  Actually, the village guy had once told me that the Eye of Naga stones could also be found in many caves on the Phu Pha Leg Mountain but he always went to find Eye of Naga stones from this cave since the cave was near to his home.  After half an hour walking and climbing, we could reach the entrance of the Glab Cave where there was a red deva shine located near to the entrance of the cave.  I laid some fruits in front of the shine and lit some incenses to worship the deva inside the shine.  Then I walked just a bit further to the entrance of the Glab Cave which looked like a dark hole and there was a big tree growing at the middle of the hole which caused the space left just enough for a thin man to pass through.  The cave hole was very dark and the path inside seemed to lead the way down to under the ground.  The elder guy slipped into the cave first following by me and the younger guy.  It was very dark but both guys used their torches to give light along the way while all of us slowly walked down the path.  The ceiling at the cave entrance was very low, so all of us needed to bowl down while walking.  The ground stone was a bit wet and slippery, so I needed to walk slowly and tried to avoid hitting my head with the ceiling of the cave.

Having walked about 10 minutes, we reached an open area where it looked like a small hall and the ceiling there was high enough for us to stand up as normal.  I looked around and surprisingly I saw a hermit statue placed outstandingly at some upper area in the hall.  The elder guy told me that this statue was built long time ago by ex-governor of Nongkai province since there were many reports of paranormal encountering happened in this cave.  I laid some fruits and flowers in front of the hermit statue and lit some incenses to worship the hermit.  I also made a wish to him that I would like to find Eye of Naga amulets there and if I could find, please allow me to take them back.

Many Thai people including myself believe that in many caves, there are many devas and spirits stay inside and could not be seen by normal eyes except for those who have been practicing meditation for long time and their minds are sensitive enough to see the devas by normal eyes.  However, if photos were taken at the places where devas or spirits stay, we might be able to see the them in the photos in the form of small shining balls which may be floating in the air or may be on some big stones.  When I came back home and looked in the photos taken from this cave, I amazingly found many shining balls in many photos but when I was there in the cave I could not see any shining balls at all.  This shining balls could be seen very clear when the photos were zoomed (please see in the photo gallery).  Some might explain that the circles are dust that float in the air and were reflected with the light and cause shining balls to be seen in the photos.  But I don’t think so since if they are dust then why only a few dust could be seen and at only some locations in the cave.  To me, I do believe that these shining balls are the devas or spirits inside the cave.

After I worshiped the hermit statue, all of us continued to walk along the path and not far away from the statue, I could dimly see a small water pool.  The elder guy told me that in this water pool was the place where the village guy (his father) occasionally found the Eye of Naga stones.  I was exciting and immediately walked closer but there was very low stone ceiling covering over the pool that made me need to bow down and climbed to the edge of the pool.  I then asked for more light from torches since it was very dark.  With the help of the torch light, I could see the water pool more clearer.  The water in the pool was very shallow, still and clear.  I noticed that the water pool was long and its path went down into the cave.  The elder guy said this pond was very long and led to another side of the mountain and that made me wondering that this pond might connect with the Mae Khong River but no one really know.

Then, I ask the elder guy to spot the torch light into the pond.  I noticed some shining round colorful stones laid on the sand under the water which made me more exciting since I could remember quite well that those bright stones  look exactly the same as Eye of Naga stones that I used to bought from the village guy.  After exploring around the pool, on that day, I could find 11 Eye of Naga stones with different shapes, sizes and colors.  I was really glad and thought that this might be the gift from the hermit given to me according to my wish or maybe all these stones might come from Mae Khong River flowing along the water path into the cave and got stuck at the edge of the pool.  When I came back home, I used my magnifying glass to closely look at the stones and could see random light reflection which looked like reflection from running water on the surface of every stones.  This reflection looked much different from the reflection of the cheap Eye of Naga stone that I bought from grey market which looked dull and still.  I also tested the power of the Eye of Naga stones that I got and found that most pieces have the power at Extremely High power range but some big pieces had higher power than this range.

Finally, I did a lot of research in many websites and found that this kind of stone is very rare to be found in nature and normally this kind of stone was synthesized and mass produced in the laboratory.  But anyway, also from my research, the stones of this kind were once found in nature by two German geologists very long time ago.  However, from what I encountered in this trip and from intensive interviewing with both guys, I do believe that the Eye of Naga stones that I got from the pool inside the cave were created by nature.  The reasons that support my belief are as follows.  First, this kind of stone was once found in nature by two German geologists, so it should be possible that the village guy could find the Eye of Naga stones in the cave too.  Second, based on my test, the Eye of Naga stones got from the village guy have strong supernatural power while the cheap Eye of Naga that I easily got from the gray market didn’t have any power at all.  Third, I have once visited almost every amulet shops in the gray market but no any single shop that had the Eye of Naga stones which had same light reflection as those that I had got from the village guy (all of them didn’t have light reflection that looked like reflection from running water but all stones from the village guy had light reflection that looked like reflection from running water).  Fourth, it was clearly seen that the village guy became much more wealthy after he found and worship Eye of Naga stones and I believe that this is because of the power of the Eye of Naga stones.  Anyway, all Eye of Naga amulets that are listed by me have been blessed again by powerful magic guru monk in order to strengthen more supernatural power inside them (although they already have strong power by themselves).

Following are descriptions of each photo:

1A: The signage beside a small road to Phu Pha Leg Mountain.

1B: In front is a part of Phu Pha Leg Mountain.

1C: The village guy’s new home.  In the past, he was very poor but after he found and worship Eye of Naga stones, his life had been changed.  Now, he could get a new home for him and his wife, 4 new homes for his sons and also 2 new cars. He and his family believe that this is because of the power of the Eye of Naga that they worshiped.

3B: The path was getting darker and the stone ceiling became lower.

3C: As the stone ceiling were getting lower and lower.  At last, I almost climbed on my knees.  Please notice a shining deva ball on the stone at the left (pointed by yellow arrow).
