MOCHE MUSICIAN

 

 

    The listed above is a superb and beautiful sculpture of Moche art. One of the wealthiest civilizations that flourished in the Pre Columbian world of ancient Peru.

 

    This incredible sculpture, depicts an ancient anthropomorphic musician in standing position, grabbing  with both hands a musical instrument, a spondylus. the ancient musician is presented dressed with a helmet of conic form embellished with a braided tail as a decoration, a turban around his face nicely tied at its endings, a pair of circular earrings, a coca bag that hangs from around his shoulders to his lower hip, a lace as a belt, a pair of sandals and a tunic with rectangular designs at this ending. This beautiful character is portrayed playing his spondylus, with one leg softly bend over a rock formation.

 

    This Particular piece is extremely rare in its kind, due to its beautiful characteristics and dimensions, and most importantly due to the superb details this sculpture presents.
