For sale is a larger cast resin MK-V helmet with dolphins that is the same as a Army or Navy First Class Diver or Diving Supervisor pin. It is also the symbol used by most commercial hard hat divers. It can be mounted on a plaque as a gift to a fellow diver or even mounted on a wall inside the house or outside as an ornament. This model is approximately 11inches tall by 11-1/2 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches thick.
My son and I make these by hand out of my garage as a hobby and can customize them if you want. It is made out of a resin that is like PVC used in pipes in your home so it is tough and weather resistant. I am a diver myself and make these for fellow divers and diving enthusiasts. Since we are making them by hand, there may be a very slight difference in the finish or the cast, but I will not ship or sell any that I am not willing to display myself. If you want perfection, buy more of these so I can contract out to some cheap foreign company and produce hundreds of them at a time.
In the picture are a couple of different colors or finishes that we can do for you. We currently offer the following finishes:
Gloss black, Gloss black with copper highlights, Silver, Copper, Grey, Gold, and Brass
Right now I am experimenting with other colors and finishes so if you want something different, let me know.
They come with no mounting brackets and can be attached to something using epoxy or screws if you pre-drill the hole. Since they are a tough plastic they will last a long time and can withstand a decent amount of abuse.
Here are some of the advantages of these items.
1. They are cheaper than brass or bronze models of the same size. This is important if you are trying to collect money from other divers to help pay for a plaque.
2. They are lighter than brass or bronze. This is important if you decide to hang it up somewhere because the real ones require you to put them into the studs in walls since they are so heavy.
3. Another advantage is that you only have to lightly dust it to keep it looking good. Most of the divers I know are too lazy/busy to spend time polishing the brass of the items they have sitting around their house.
