This Wedjat is about 3/4 of an inch long and is about 2 and 1/2 inches tall on the stand. This is a very nice piece with small amounts of abrasion. It has a very nice color and displays very well on the stand. Wedjat's were also known as the eye of Horus. It was used as a protective amulet to military and noblemen, it was also used in funeral rites. Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris, he lost his eye in a battle with Set, his uncle. He was avenging the murder of his father Osiris. this is one of the most common Egyptian amulets along with the scarab. A very recognizable sign of ancient Egyptian times. This item comes with a certificate of authenticity and is sold at a very reasonable price.
