GOOD to VERY GOOD CONDITION - NO RESERVE - LOW OPENING BID!!!
This auction is for a superb vintage hardback edition entitled “The Aegean Civilization,” by Gustave Glotz, a foreword by Henri Berr, lavishly illustrated with EIGHT black and white plates, EIGHTY-SEVEN wonderful illustrations in the text and THREE maps.
It was published by Book Club Associates, of London, in 1976.
The ancient and elaborate civilization, which was first revealed by Schliemann and more fully disclosed by the excavations of Sir Arthur Evans in Crete dating from 1900, is here described for us by Professor Glotz in a style of amazing richness, informed throughout by sound and comprehensive scholarship.
This people, who lived so long in luxury and peace, who cultivated the arts with such a highly developed aesthetic sense, who finally passed so much of their heritage to ancient Greece, hold an important place in the history of civilization.

The book measures 9.5 inches x 6.25 inches x 1.4 inches.
The 422 pages are nice and neat and a little faded with age, with very light foxing near the covers/rims. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages. Apart from a stamp at the back, there are no other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original hardback cover is in good condition for its age, with minor wear, bumps and is a little faded, having been largely protected by the dust-jacket. The illustrated dust-jacket is good for its age, with some wear/scratches on the back cover, is a little grubby and has not been price-clipped. The gold on the front board and spine is very good.
A lavishly illustrated vintage edition – the starting price is just ONE PENNY, with NO RESERVE, and I WILL SELL to the highest bidder.
I am more than happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases and cost will be determined on the total weight of your wins (see below for costs and full details).
